Made | Named Jamie Jeans

Hey, is everyone down to address a few things before I talk a lot? The first thing is that these jeans look worse in the photos than they do in person, but they are still never going to see the light of day. The other thing is that I'm drinking Dunkin Donuts iced coffee. I want to address it because I'm only slightly ashamed, but I also want to say that I fought to hold it in these because I thought it was funny, and in part to spite my wonderful friend who took these photos (thanks Amanda!). Also, my posing. Does it need addressing? Probably. Am I going to do it? Not a chance. HAVE FUN LOOKING AT MY AWKWARD SELF IN FRONT OF A CAMERA YOU GUYZZZZZ.

Now, let's move on. The pattern: Jamie Jeans The problem: I don't know, everything? The solution: I'm working on my trouser block at the moment so hopefully I can use it to fix some fit issues. OR scrap this pattern and just draft jeans from the block. Who knows. I actually made these jeans in blue denim before this, but given my complete lack of jeans-sewing experience and my lack of in-person resources, I botched the waistband. Theoretically, I could unpick that waistband, cut a new one, and move forward. So much work though. I also REALLY wanted brown jeans, and the fit on the denim ones was great, so I didn't think this would be a problem. I was wrong. I'm wrong so often. So here's a cry for help, if any great seamstresses happen to read this: I can't find brown stretch denim anywhere; I got this brown twill from Mood, but it's just not the same. If anyone happens to know where I can find the brown stretchy denim of my dreams pleaseeee let me know! I would owe you one. Last but not least, I wanted these jeans longer so that they would scrunch up at the bottom. I definitely need to add length to these next time.

So long story short, this was a fail. BUT there were a few wins the process: I figured out how to do a waistband. WIN! I also managed to do the fly front on my first jeans correctly, and botch the fly front on these. I can still truthfully say that the first fly front zipper I ever put in was done well though. WIN! Kind of! I got iced coffee for a dollar. It may not be good but you know...still a win!

I'm leaving you guys with a close up of my gnarly hair and what my face looks like when it's bright out/I'm not sure what's going on.

See you guys next time for a hopefully more successful venture!
