Made | Briar Sweater and Leather Tote

November 01, 2014 by Elizabeth Hyer

Hello and welcome back to my blog, I'm so glad you could stop by. Today I'm having a hard time focusing, but I do have some photos of things I made to show you. First things first, I made that leather bag - I used some leather hide I got from here and this tutorial from Sewbon. It was kind of beastly to make, since my sewing machine stopped wanting to work when I got to the gussets, but it powered through and is working fine now. It's nothing fancy, but I think this bag was a great introduction to working with leather.

I also made the sweater, it's the Briar pattern by Megan Nielsen. This year I've spent a lot of time learning to draft patterns, I'm trying to learn how to make them digital on illustrator, I've put up patterns on this website, and I think I have something like 30 sewing patterns in my stash - and yet I still think 70% of my tops are either Briars or something I drafted based on that pattern. That is to say - I love this pattern, and I've probably never needed to buy another pattern for a top ever.

I'm not really sure what I'm doing here, but I think this is just my typical thing to do when I'm taking pictures.

In other news:

I've put my knitting patterns up on Ravelry, I'm a bit overwhelmed with the response they've received, but who doesn't love a free pattern, right?

I'm working on another knitting pattern as we speak, it'll be a cabled hat and I'm really excited to show you guys when it's done.

I hope you guys are having an awesome week, and I hope it isn't TOO cold wherever you are.
